Larry Clinton Reid
 
 GIBSONVILLE — Mr. Larry Clinton Reid, 74, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Alamance Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.
 
 A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late William Nathanial Reid and the late Lucille Agatha Jones Reid.
 
 Larry graduated from A.O. High School in 1958 and was a reserve in the U.S. National Guard, Communication Unit #263, located in Badin, N.C. He was a former employee with Western Electric before converting to his true life’s calling, which was farming. He farmed with his family for over 52 years, with the last five years being a special time, farming with his son. He was a member of the Western Alamance Farmers Club and served as a Judge on the Alamance County Board of Elections, Morton Township, for over 40 years.
 
 Mr. Reid is survived by his daughter, Michele Reid Salerno of Gibsonville; son, Richard Nathanial “Ricky” Reid and wife Stephanie, of Elon; and seven grandchildren, Alexandra Chappell and husband Clint, Justin Crawford, Joanna Salerno, Samantha Salerno, Natalie Salerno, Luciana Salerno and Lilya Salerno.
 
 The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2014, at Shiloh United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dave Gilbert. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
 
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home of his son, Ricky, 3392 NC 87 North, Elon.
 
 Mr. Reid’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Choksi, Shawn and Lindsay, the staffs of the ARMC Cancer Center and Critical Care Unit, and all his friends and members of his community for their loving care and thoughtful support through Larry’s illness.
 
 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, 4718 NC 87 North, Gibsonville, NC 27249; Bethlehem Christian Church, 3625 Altamahaw Church Street, Elon, NC 27244; or, to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
