Ms. Edna Jane Reid
GIBSONVILLE — Ms. Edna Jane Reid, 87, formerly of 4865 N.C. 87 North, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Twin Lakes Center after seven years of failing health and a critical illness of two weeks.
A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late John Nathaniel Reid and Esther Lewis Reid. She retired from the family business of Reid Brothers Dairy and also worked for a hosiery mill. Ms. Reid served as the communion steward along with being the pianist for the Shiloh United Methodist Church for many years where she was a member.
She was a former member of the Alamance County Genealogy Society and served as the historian for the Lewis family reunion. Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Nancy Reid Green and her husband, Shellman, of Elon; two nephews, Larry Reid of Gibsonville and John Lee Reid Jr. of the home; great nieces, Susan Gilliam Hollowell and her husband, Pete, of Goldboro, Michele L. Reid of Washington, and Melissa Green of Burlington; and a great-nephew, Ricky Reid of Elon.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shiloh United Methodist Church cemetery by the Rev. Susan Moore. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home of the niece, Mrs. Green, 1235 Candlewood Drive, Elon.
