Irene Ferguson Phillips
REIDSVILLE - Mrs. Irene Ferguson Phillips, 81, of 2135 S. Scales St., formerly of Elon College, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at her residence, after a lengthy illness.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, in Magnolia Cemetery. The Rev. William Wolfe and the Rev. David A. Wyant, Pastor of First United Methodist Church, Scales St., Reidsville, will be officiating.
A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Scales St., Reidsville, at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 1998.
She was a native of Rockingham County, daughter of the late Ella Mae Spearman Ferguson and the late William Lee Ferguson.
She retired from Belk Beck Store. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Elon College, former member of the Edith Poole Sunday school class, the United Methodist Women and the Happy Morning Club, a member of the First United Methodist Church, Scales Street, Reidsville, active in Sunday school, Bible Study, the Lively Bunch and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include son, Dr. Michael W. Phillips of Toledo, Ohio and wife, Lynn; sisters, Mrs. Janie Perkins of Clayton, Mrs. Margie Clemmons of Greensboro, Miss Ruth Ferguson of Reidsville; brothers, Mr. Watson Ferguson of Richmond, Va., Mr. Haywood Ferguson of Reidsville; two grandchildren, Andrew Phillips and Erin Phillips.
