Calvin Johnson “Slick” Hicks


BURLINGTON - Mr. Calvin Johnson “Slick” Hicks, age 80, of Burlington, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several weeks of failing health.
Born in Orange County, he was the son of the late John Arbert Hicks and the late Leona Fulcher Hicks and was married for over 58 years to Mrs. Patricia Ann Alderman Hicks, who survives. He was retired from Southern Webbing and was of the Baptist faith. “Slick” owned Hick’s Garage where he loved to work on cars and hang out with the “Good ol’ Boys”. He loved to fish and spent a lot of time at the coast. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all his neighbors and community for all their support and visits during Calvin’s illness.

Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife of the home; three children, C.W. Hicks and his partner, Tammy, Teresa Morrell and her husband, Les, and Don Hicks and his wife, Stephanie; seven grandchildren, Ashton Dixon, Tanner Hicks, Steven Stovall, Taylor Hicks, Blake Roberts, Macie Roberts and Alex Morrell; two greatgrandchildren, Jack Dixon and Tucker Dixon; a sister, Gloria Jean Huff; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Margie H. McKinney, Sallie Inez Aldridge, Nellie Mae Dameron and Joan Jeanette Hicks; and two brothers, James “Jake” Hicks and Arbert Junior Hicks.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, August 6, 2018 at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel by Rev. Norman Fargis. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the mausoleum chapel and other times at the residence.
