Linwood Russell Straughn
Linwood Russell Straughn, 91, of Burlington, NC, while surrounded by his loving family and friends, went home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ at the Hospice Home on October 22, 2018.
Linwood was the son of Lacy and Lois Straughn, both deceased. He was employed at Cone Mills for 40 years. Linwood served in World War II as a Corporal for the United States Air Force. He was Assistant Pastor at Peoples Church in Mebane for 20+ years. He was also the Sunday School teacher for the Men’s Class.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Straughn; son, Leonard King and wife Angie, who loved Linwood dearly; step-daughters, Mrs. Mark (Jean) Hopkins of Burlington and Diane Mitchell of Burlington; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Dural Gene Straughn. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine King; brothers, Carlos and Dural Straughn; and three step-sons, Gerald King, Kenny King and Roy King.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington. At other times, they will be at the home of Leonard and Angie King, 1809 Carolina Road, Burlington, NC.
The funeral service will be at Peoples Church in Mebane on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Hospice for all the loving care for Linwood.
