PROSPECT HILL - Harry Lee Stanfield, 75, of Prospect Hill, passed away on December 1, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Rebecca Fowlkes Stanfield, his brother Bobby Stanfield, and his great niece Sarah Hart Stanfield. He is survived by sisters Ann Stanfield Simmons (Gilbert) of Burlington and Mary Willie Clayton (Barry) of Burlington, and sister in law Juanita Aldridge Stanfield of Prospect Hill. In addition he is survived by nieces and nephews Sherry Stanfield-Oakley (Henry), Mark Stanfield (Sharon), Todd Stanfield (JoAnn), Kandice Stanfield-Ceparano (Jared), Dustin Stanfield, Kevin Simmons (Malinda), Crystal Simmons Reynolds (Jeff), Diana Wheeler (Tradd), and Tommy Clayton (Kristen). He is also survived by seventeen great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Stanfield received an Associate’s Degree from Wingate College, a Bachelor’s degree at Catawba College, and a Master’s at NC State. He was a lifelong educator serving as teacher and later principal at numerous schools throughout his career in both Wake and Carteret counties. Mr. Stanfield loved all of his students and teachers, and continued to speak fondly of them after retirement. Mr. Stanfield was named Principal of the Year several times.
Harry never met a stranger, would talk to anyone about any subject, and was always the life of the party. He leaves behind many friends, too numerous to name, and precious memories of good times with his family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday December 5, 2018 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Prospect Hill by Pastors John Upton and Bob Wray. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bethel UMC, care of Bruce Pleasant, 1268 Painter Rd. Prospect Hill, NC 27314 Hospice of Alamance – Caswell 914 Chapel Hill Rd, Burlington, NC 27215.
