Elizabeth Rippy Barber

Burlington – Elizabeth R. Barber, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was born in Alamance County on January 22, 1936 to the late Amos Kerr and Esther Rector Rippy and was the wife of 48 years to the late Robert Cornelious Barber, Jr.

Elizabeth was a longtime member of First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where she served on the Ladies Circle #4 and the Ladies Sunday School Class. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her canine companion, “Noah”. Elizabeth was a loving mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughter, Becky Smith (David); son, David Barber (Cathy); grandchildren, Josh Barber (Ashlee), Kristi Martin (Chris), Robert Wilkie (Monica), Megan Smith and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers, Harry and Larry Rippy.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Brian Crotts and Rev. Tim Robinson with the entombment to follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45pm prior to the service on Friday and other times at her home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or to First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 2250 Saddle Club Rd, Burlington, NC 27215.
