James Larry "Jimmy" Barnette

May 21, 1963 ~ February 3, 2021 (age 57)

James Larry “Jimmy” Barnette, 57, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at his residence.  He was the husband of Nerissa Moore Barnette and they were faithfully married for nearly 33 years.
He was born in Burlington and was the son of the late James Hunter Barnette and Margie Barnette who survives.  He was a lifelong member of Altamahaw Baptist Church where he filled a variety of roles including deacon, Sunday School coordinator and discipleship teacher.  Church was always a priority for Jimmy and he rarely missed a service.  He was currently employed by Advance Auto in Yanceyville after retiring from the U.S. Post Office.
He is survived by his wife, Nerissa, daughters, Jamie Trollinger and husband Matt “Yogi”, Cortnye  Barnette and fiancé Zach Hayes “Fuzzy” and son, Jamison Barnette and wife Laura.  The absolute apple of his eye was his grandson, Langston “Tink Tink”.  He loved spending time with him more than anything else.  In addition to the family listed above, he is also survived by his brother, Michael Barnette and wife Karen, and two nephews who he loved dearly, Joshua “Shooting Partner” and Jacob “Speed Bump”.  He leaves behind a great host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that will miss him immensely and his ability to bring a smile to everyone’s face he came in contact with will never be matched.  He was preceded in death by his father, James Hunter Barnette.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Altamahaw Baptist Church by Dr. Steve Tucker with interment to follow in Alamance Memorial Park.  Public viewing will be available Saturday from 8:00-11:30 AM at Lowe Funeral Home and 1:00-1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
The family wishes to express a great deal of gratitude for all the thoughts, prayers and care shown during this time.
