Obituary Online notes for Thomas Wesley ROUTH Sr.
GRAYS CHAPEL — Thomas Wesley Routh Sr., 90, of Grays Chapel, passed away on Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Randolph Hospital.
He was a retired dairy farmer and enjoyed growing vegetables and selling them at the Asheboro Farmers' Market. He was proud of his service to his country as he was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at Grays Chapel United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Nathan Snider and the Rev. Alanda Harris. The family will receive friends one prior to the service at Grays Chapel United Methodist Church.
Thomas was the son of the late Isaac Enolds and Gertrude Pugh Routh and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Carletta Pugh and Margaret Julian; and one brother, Junius Routh.
Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Lula Mae Tingen Routh; daughters, Cathy Ward (Alvin) of Grays Chapel, Sarah Jackson (Don) of Virginia Beach, Va., Susan Farr (Billy) of Asheboro; sons, Thomas Wesley Routh Jr. (Patti) of Grays Chapel and Jerry Routh (Marilyn) of Grays Chapel; nine grandchildren, Janie Grainger, Kenneth Ward, Cory Routh, Matt Routh, Carrie Palmer, Lora Maynard, Robyn Browder, Holly Smith and Isaac Routh; 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jimmie Routh of Grays Chapel.
At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to Grays Chapel United Methodist Church, 5056 N.C. Hwy. 22 N, Franklinville, NC 27248.
