Bio: Charles William Perkins, 62, of 2558 NC87 went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday (Aug. 28, 2012) at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00PM Saturday (Sept. 1, 2012) at Thompsonville Baptist Church and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Rockingham Co., he was a son of Jake Norman and Gwendolyn Whicker Perkins and had lived in the Williamsburg Community all of his life. Charles was employed by Commonwealth Brands and he had been a member of Thompsonville Baptist Church for 41 years; where he was Chairman of the Deacons, a Sunday school teacher, and a choir member and song leader for many years. He was a founding member of the Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Dept., President of the Rockingham Co. & Caswell Co. Hunting Club. Charles loved his family farm, where he grew up and never left, but his greatest love was his family.
Surviving is his wife: Aljean Shelton Perkins of the home; daughters: Melissa P. Boone and husband: Wynn of Reidsville, Nicole P. Petty and husband: B.J. of Reidsville; his father & mother: Jake Norman "JN" and Gwendolyn "Blondie" Whicker Perkins Jr.; brother: Ronald N. Perkins and wife: Alice of Reidsville; grandsons: Austin, Dakota, Grayson, & Chase; mother-in-law: Elsie M. Shelton of Reidsville; sister-in-law: Ann Russell S. Boone and husband: Joe of Reidsville The family will see friends from 6:00 till 8:00PM Friday (Aug. 31, 2012) at Thompsonville Baptist Church and at other times, they will be at the residence. Memorials may be made to: Thompsonville Baptist Church 2033 NC 87 Reidsville, NC 27320. Citty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.cittyfh.com
