Obituary Online notes for Mable Gray DODSON
Mabel Holland REIDSVILLE - Mrs. Mabel Holland, 83, of the Bethany community in Reidsville, passed away on August 10, 2009. Mabel had been living in Newnan, GA. near her son Gary for approximately the last five years. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday August 15th at Mt. Bethel Christian Church. Interment will follow Evergreen Memory Gardens. Mabel's parents were William Gaston Dodson and Lula Carter Dodson. Mabel is survived by son Gary Holland and wife, Sue of Newnan, GA., granddaughter Deena Newton and husband, George of Georgia; great grandchildren Emily and Will Newton of Lawrenceville, GA. Of her 12 siblings, she is survived by Emma Bradshaw of Raleigh, Dudley Dodson of Fuquay Varina, Harry Dodson, and Richard Dodson, both of Burlington; as well as many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. Mabel's husband, Thomas Wesley " Buddy" and daughter, Cathy preceded her in death. Mabel grew up in Wentworth and Bethany, married in Bethany and spent her life living in and loving the state of North Carolina. There are so many wonderful things to say about our loving mother, she was an angel to her family, friend to many, hard worker in the church and community and tireless in her flower and vegetable gardens. After retirement from American Tobacco Company, Mabel traveled throughout the United States and went on several cruises with her friends. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Friday, August 14th from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mabel's memory to the , 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, N.C. 28215 or to her church, Mt. Bethel Christian Church, 8130 N.C. Highway 65, Summerfield, N.C. 27358.
