Obituary Online notes for Willie Ray WYRICK Sr.
Willie Ray Wyrick, 78, of Gibsonville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at Beacon Place.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, at Glenwood Friends Meeting where he was a faithful member. Interment will immediately follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Mr. Wyrick was born October 30, 1928, in Guilford County to the late Addie and Lillie Wyrick. Mr. Wyrick served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Service Star, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. After the war, he returned to Greensboro and worked as the superintendent for Dockery Corporation.
Willie Wyrick was active at his church and was a member of the Doug Penley Sunday School Class, the Quaker Men, and DAV. He was also an avid outdoorsman, and a good neighbor and friend with a helping hand and smile for everyone.
Mr. Wyrick is survived by his wife, Linda Wyrick; sons, Tony Wyrick (Pat) and Steve Wyrick (Cindy); stepchildren, Angela Forbis (Frankie), Doug Penley (Lynn), Jeffy Penley and Stacy Dillard (Phil). He is also survived by sisters, Margret Rumley, Edna Hatcher, and Mary Frances Johnson; brother, Bobby Wyrick; grandchildren, Danny, Keith and Meghan Wyrick, Brian and Kaylee Forbis, Michael, Steven, Katie, Katie, and Jeffrey Penley, Phillip and Daniel Dillard; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Willie Ray Wyrick, Jr.; and brothers, James, Edgar and Ervin Wyrick.
