September 15, 1933 ~ December 25, 2024 (age 91)
Howard Barrett, 91 of Graham, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at AuthoraCare Collective Hospice Home in Burlington.
A native of Gastonia, NC he was the husband of 65 years to the late Frances Smith Barrett and the son of Curtis Barrett and Pearl Baker Barrett, both deceased.
Howard served in the United State Air Force and was a Korean War veteran. He retired from Leesona where he worked as a manager for many years. He was a member of Moore’s Chapel Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Square-Dancing Club and the Good Sams Camping Club. Howard was involved in youth sports in the Saxapahaw area and was an avid golfer. The annual family vacation at Carolina Beach on July 4th week was a very special time for Howard.
He is survived by a son, Tony Barrett and his wife Jeanne; daughter, Debbie Brooks and her husband Tim; ten grandchildren, Scarlett Sykes and her husband Travis, Valeria Calviness and her husband Chris, Kim Moore and her husband Ray, Troy Brooks and his wife Alysha, Emily Brooks, Ashley Hodges and her husband Justin, Hunter Clark, Chris Clark, Michael Clark, Bo Clark and his wife Stephanie; 14 great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Howard was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Brandi Barrett, David Barrett, Anna Brooks; stepmother, Wilma Barrett; one brother, Darrell Barrett; and three sisters, Cornelia Honeycutt, Jackie Davis and Patsy Davis.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Moore’s Chapel Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:45 pm until 1:45 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in Moore’s Chapel cemetery.
