Mr. Gayle Van Shoe, 78 of Sue Dr., entered eternal rest on July 20, 2004 at his home.
The funeral will be held at 2p.m. Thursday at Mt. Pleasant United Methodust Church, conducted by the Rev. James Auman and the Rev. Bill Gibson. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park.
He was born on Oct.28, 1925, in Julian, a son of Joseph G. and Blanche Coble Shoe. Mr. Shoe was a member of Mt. Pleaseant United Methodist Church, a co-owner of Shoe's Welding Service and a retiree of Tarhell Paving Company. He was a veteran of World War II and an avid outdoorsman and fisherman. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and he was loved and cherished by family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel May Shoe of the home, daughter Linda S. James of McLeansville;son Howard L and Nancy Dodson Shoe of McLeansville; four grandchildren, Samantha J. and husband Steve Cooke, David E. Shoe, Amanda K. Shoe and Gary G. Shoe; two great-grandchildres, Kasey and Jessica Cooke, two brothers, Roger and wife Arlene Shoe of Julian and George and wife Elizabeth Shoe of Burlington.
Mr. Shoe was preceded in death by his mother and father, three sisters, Birt McIntyre, Garnett Harmon, Donnie Edwards and six brothers, Banner, Pete, Wade, Glen, Allen and Ronald Shoe.
