Cody Jacob Wood, born on August 21, 1994, in Burlington, North Carolina, passed away on January 7, 2024, in his hometown of Burlington, North Carolina. He was 29 years old at the time of his passing.
Cody was a dedicated Warehouse Technician, having worked for Wal-Mart Distribution Center. Known for his unwavering work ethic, he was always seen diligently carrying out his duties. His commitment and dedication were recently recognized when he received the prestigious “Employee of The Month” Award from his employer, Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Mebane, North Carolina.  Aside from his professional endeavors, Cody had a keen interest in guns, knives, and swords. He found joy in playing Rummy with his beloved mother, Dianne. Cody was also an active member of Lamb’s Chapel Church in Burlington, where he actively participated in the Youth Group.  Cody also had a true passion for playing the guitar and singing and performed to the delight of audiences at Lyrics Nightclub.  Cody was a confident and outspoken individual who was never known to be shy. He cherished his family deeply and was wholeheartedly devoted to them. Spending time with his grandfather, Roger, and his Aunt Nikki brought him immense happiness.
In mourning his loss, Cody is preceded in death by his father, Roger Larry Wood, his maternal grandfather, Richard E. Doby, his uncles, Eric Doby and Carl Doby, great aunts, Rose Wood, Sharon Wood and great uncle, Tony Wood as well as his paternal grandmother, Linda Church Wilson.  Cody leaves behind a loving family and numerous friends who will forever cherish his memory. His mother, Dianne May, and his stepfather, Mike May, his paternal grandfather, Roger Wood (Rosa), maternal grandmother, Elma Mae Doby and his great aunts, Sandy Smith (Charles), Brenda Green, Linda Capes, and Terry Palmer (Doug), all mourn his passing. Additionally, he is survived by his aunts and uncles, Keith Brown, Nikki Brown Cindy Sell (Brad), Windy Pulliam (Richard), Jeff Fargis (Natasha), and Richard C. Doby (Anita).   A Celebration of Cody’s life was held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Integrity Church at the BMOC on Corporation Parkway in Burlington. The service allowed family and friends to come together and honor his memory, sharing stories and reflecting on the impact he had on their lives.
Cody Jacob Wood will forever be remembered for his strong work ethic, and his love for spending time with his family. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of determination and devotion that will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in eternal peace. 691, Cody Jacob Wood
