Connie Irene Blackwelder Rierson, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 21, 2018. Mrs. Rierson's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25 at First Baptist Church of Summerfield with Rev. Richard Beeson and Rev. Larry Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A Guilford County native, Connie was born on March 22, 1946, the daughter of the late Leonard Blackwelder and Lucille Clapp Blackwelder. She was an active and devoted member of First Baptist Church in Summerfield. She was a graduate of Northwest Guilford High School, class of 1964, and from there attended business school. She worked until the boys were born and then devoted her life to taking care of her family. As a hobby, she enjoyed collecting miniature lighthouses. Surviving are her husband, David W. Rierson; sons Greg Rierson and Todd Rierson; a grandson, Jordan Anderson; as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews, and Lucy, her loving canine companion. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Forbis & Dick Stokesdale. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.
