Mrs. Frances Oakley Woody, 85, of Burlington passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 10:45 p.m.
 
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Thomas Beam Woody and the daughter of Ernest Francis Oakley and Emma Oliver Oakley, both deceased. Frances was a widely known and well loved columnist and news room administrator at the Times News of Burlington with over 40 years of service. She was a member of Faith Christian Church.
 
Survivors include two daughters, June Woody Forbis and husband Steve and Kathy Woody Cooper and husband William, all of Burlington; brother, Reid Oakley of Burlington; six grandchildren, Chris Forbis, Sam Forbis, Nikki Faircloth, Casey Fox, Andrew Woody, Jr. and Matthew Woody; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Andy Woody, two sisters and two brothers.
 
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Alamance Regional Medical Center for the many seen and unseen kindnesses extended to them and their mother.
 
Due to current social restrictions, a private service will be held at a later date to honor Frances’ life.
 
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
