Burlington – Mrs. Ruby Tickle Simmons, 96, of Burlington, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late H. Allen Simmons and daughter of the late C. Turner Tickle and Mary Hudgins Tickle.
Mrs. Simmons was retired from Burlington Industries, a member of St. Paul’s Community Church and active in the Church Choir. She was also a volunteer for Alamance County Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are two step-daughters, Ruth Pollard of Easley, SC and Charlotte Mann Ayers of Roswell, GA; eight surviving step-grandchildren; sister, Wonnie T. Collins of Chapel Hill; nieces and caregivers, Judy Harrell (Bobby), Kay Andrews, and Ellen Andrews (Bobby), all of Burlington; nieces, Lorie Gaines (Darrell), Renae Allison (Gary), Pat Abrahamsen (Jim); nephews, Barry Coble (Toni) who was like a son, Bobbie Collins (Tammy) and A. C. Austin.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Lossie T. Austin, Dorothy T. Murray, Doris T. Moore, and Eva T. Hall; and a step-son, Jack Simmons.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 10, at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington.
Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM, prior to the service. 261, Ruby Tickle Simmons
