HILLSBOROUGH Mr. Ira S. "Jake" Chrismon, 79, of 1601 NC 57, died at 10:46 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at Brookshire Nursing Home, Hillsborough, after several years of declining health.A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rich & Thompson Chapel, Burlington, with the Rev. Carson Wiggins officiating. He was born in Guilford County, the son of the late Ira Banner Chrismon and the late Myrtle Wyrick Chrismon. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired engineering associate with Bell Labs. He was a a member of Grace United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Jesse Chrismon and sister Fleta Coltrane. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Patricia W. Chrismon of the home; daughters, Mrs. Barbara C. Rodgers and husband Jim of Hillsborough, Miss Sandra A. Chrismon of Burlington and Mrs. Kay C. Flack and husband Billy of Mebane; grandchildren, Myra Wood of Chesapeake, Va., Russell Ross of Graham, James Rodgers Jr., of Hillsborough and Shane Gibbs of Mebane; three great-grandchildren; sister Mrs. Thelma Whitesell of Whitsett; brothers, Mr. Lloyd Chrismon of Brown Summit, the Rev. Harold Chrismon of Apex, Mr. Golden Chrismon, Mr. Gene Chrismon and Mr. Don Chrismon, all of Brown Summit. The family will be at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
