Obituary Online notes for Lloyd Lafayette THOMAS
Lloyd L Thomas, age 93, died Friday, December 4, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family.
A funeral service is planned for 3:00 pm Sunday at Cameron Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Greene officiating.
Burial will follow at Cameron Community cemetery.
A native of Moore County, he was the son of the late J. L. Thomas & Mattie Lawrence Thomas.
He was a decorated World War II Army veteran serving in the Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes & Rhineland Campaigns under the command of Gen. George S. Patton.
He was a retired postal employee and tobacco farmer.
He served on the Farm Service Agency and was a member of the American Legion and Cameron Volunteer Fire Department.
A member of Cameron Baptist Church he assisted in the construction of church buildings. He also served as a deacon, trustee and enjoyed singing in the choir.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Comer Thomas, a son Jerry Thomas and a sister, Marjorie Whitesell.
Survivors include his daughters, Sylvia Shelhamer & husband, Rich and Karen Arrington & husband, Steve all of Cameron; five grandchildren, Stephen Arrington, Jonathan Shelhamer, Chad Arrington, Emily Lobeck and Jeremy Arrington; seven great-grandchildren.
