April 22, 1960 ~ November 16, 2020 (age 60)
Rob Sutton, 60, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Alamance County, NC on April 22, 1960 to Robert Holt Sutton, Sr. and Mollie Hicks Vernon and was married to Lisa Miller Sutton for 32 years.
Rob worked for BT Systems as a Quality Technician. He was a member of Westside Fellowship. He graduated with a BA from John Wesley College in Bible and Theology. He then attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary’s graduate program. Rob worked in many capacities in local churches including youth ministry, associate pastor and refugee resettlement.
Rob was a lifelong Boy Scout, member and leader. He came up through the ranks from Cub Scout to Eagle Scout including achieving the Order of the Arrow. As an adult he was awarded the coveted Wood Badge and was on the Wood Badge staff. Rob mentored many young men as a Scout Master. He continued his scouting career as the founding Skipper of the local Sea Scout Ship 4019 that included young men and women. Rob was a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary.
He is survived by his parents, wife, sisters, Susan Sutton and Carley Sutton, and brother, Graham Sutton and a large extended family.
The funeral service will be held 12:00pm Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Westside Fellowship by Pastor Tim Godfrey, Pastor Kurt Ward and Pastor Gayle Ruble. Rob will be available for viewing from 10:30am to 11:30am, Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the church and the graveside service to follow at Bethlehem Christian Church.
