John Ira Ward, Jr.

John Ira Ward, Jr., 92, of Efland passed away Monday, December 7, 2020.

He was a native of Orange County, retired farmer, a lifelong member of Lebanon United Methodist Church where he was very active serving as Sunday School Superintendent for over 30 years, looked after the cemetery for many years as well as many other activities and was a US Army Veteran.

He is the son of the late John Ira Ward, Sr & Etta Truitt Ward. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Ward Stanley.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Jones Ward of the home; son, John Ira (Johnny) Ward, III and wife Mary Ann of Efland; daughters, Peggy Majors of Graham, Donna Francis and husband David of Cary, Sandra Hannon and husband John of Raleigh; Grandchildren, Vance Benjamin Ward, David Ward Francis, Rev. Sarah Jane Majors, Heather Elizabeth Ward, Mary Roberts Francis, Matthew Eric Hannon and 2 Great Grandchildren

A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 PM Friday, December 11, 2020 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane by Pastor Sean Kavanagh and Pastor Sarah Majors. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Ward will be available for viewing at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 12:00 – 5:00 PM.
