Mary Reid Childers

Mary Ellen Reid Childers, age 92, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Alamance Regional
Medical Center. She was the last surviving child of Herman J. Reid and Gertrude Hughes Reid. She was married for 45 years to the late Jack D. Childers.

Mary Ellen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was affectionally known as “Nanny”. She took great pride in her family. Her final night at home was Christmas Eve doing what brought her so much joy, giving to her family and making Christmas memories. She was like a little child when it came to Christmas and always had the inside and outside of her home lit up. Her passing will leave a hole in our hearts that will never be filled. But, on December 30th, she will be celebrating with Jack on his 92nd birthday

Survivors include daughters, LuAnn Veiga, Karen Stone and her husband Tom; grandchildren, Jennifer Holcomb and her husband Donnie, Holly Ingle and Craig Baggerly, Jack Veiga and his wife Ashley; great grandchildren, Brittney Boney Caissie and her husband Daniel, Matthew Holcomb, Tanner Holcomb, Kodi Dennis, Kyrstin Dennis, Karson Dennis, Braxton Veiga, Jacklyn Veiga and Asintyn Branch; great great grandchildren, Liam Caissie and Colton Caissie; step grandchildren, Craig Veiga, Laura Desai and husband Kam, Greg Stone and wife Heather and Camden Dault; step great grandchildren, Steven Veiga, Jackson Desai, Syndey Desai, Liv Stone and Gavin Stone; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a private graveside service at 3:00pm Tuesday at Gibsonville City Cemetery by Rev. Garry Baldwin with music by Kodi Dennis and Garry Baldwin.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Jeffrey Sparks and Dr. Alec Parachos for their years of caring for our mother and grandmother and for caregivers that have lovingly cared for her at her home for the last two years.
