A native of Alamance County, she was the devoted wife of 51 years to Jack Scott Stubblefield and the daughter of J. Luther Jones and Esther Lee Jones, both deceased.

Betsy spent over 29 years caring for her husband after a devastating stroke while maintaining her commitment to her family, community and church.

Betsy was a proud graduate of Altamahaw-Ossipee High School. While attending A-O, she, along with her sister Grace and brother Leo, known as Leo and The Prairie Sweethearts sang Western, Country, and Gospel over the radio stations WBBB and WFNS. Betsy received the Civitan Service Award (2007 – 2008), Junior Civitan Club Builder Award for Clover Garden School (2014), and Civitan of the Year (2021). Her proudest accomplishments were receiving several prestigious awards at the District and International levels for her award-winning notebooks and for receiving the Civitan Honor Key, the highest award the Club can give a member.

Betsy was a founding member of the Cornpickers where she performed as Minnie Pearl (1999 – 2019) throughout the community. She was a natural born entertainer and played piano by ear at an early age. As a member of Bethlehem Christian Church, she was active in the choir and the Ladies’ Fellowship. She was a past member of the Western Alamance High School Athletic Boosters Board and received Booster of the Year (1989).
