October 26, 1954 ~ July 7, 2017 (age 62)
Neal Franklin McKinney, 62, of Graham, NC, passed away on Friday July 7, 2017 at the Hospice Home of Burlington. A native of Alamance County, NC, he was the son of Samuel George McKinney, who survives of the home and the late Evelyn Hadley McKinney. He was known to be a gentle soul who was always willing to help everyone. He graduated from Graham High School and Alamance Community College. He had worked with County, Ford, University Ford and the Durham County Public Schools Transportation Division as an automotive Technician. Neal was a talented musician and over the years played bass guitar in several bands. Neal played with The Persuasions, Seabreeze, Karisma, Deep Creek Bad, Restless Spirits, and the Sundown Band. One highlight during this time was going with the Deep Creek band to Washington DC to play during the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the White House. Neal he had many friends. He loved his family and remained close to cousins and friends he had played with during his childhood. He was a member of Graham Friends Church. In addition to his father, he is survived by his sister, Sylvia M. Williams and husband George; brother, Dana McKinney and wife Donna; nieces and nephews, Rachel Wilborn (Travis), Adam McKinney (Karaline Brewer), George M. Williams and Sarah Williams; great nieces, Aurora Wright and Alyssa Wilborn. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday July 13, 2017 at Graham Memorial Park with the Pastor Tom Burton Officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Wednesday July 12, 2017 at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham, and other times at the residence of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alamance/Caswell Hospice at 918 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NV 27215 or to a charity of one’s choice. The family would like to thank friends and family for all the prayers and visits during Neal’s illness. Thanks to Dr. Corcoran, Sherry, Brandy, and other staff members of Cone Health cancer center of Alamance. Also a special thanks to the staff of the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance/Caswell for all the tender loving care given to Neal.
