ELON COLLEGE — Mr. Junior Jesse Gwynn, 66, of 310 Moore Road, died Sunday,
Nov. 14, 1999, at his home after four years of failing health, one week critical.
A native of Caswell County, he was the son of Mr. Jesse James Gwynn and Mrs. Myrtle
Brintle Gwynn, both deceased. He was retired from Burlington Industries, Pioneer Plant,
and was a former member of the Cherry Grove Ruritan Club. He was a member of Bethel
United Church of Christ, where he was a former deacon.
Survivors include three daughters, Ms. Amanda Humphries of Reidsville, Ms. Beth
Walker of Burlington and Mrs. Larry (Anna) Butts of Yanceyville; a son, Mr. Jesse
Robert Gwynn of Burlington; three sisters, Mrs. Doake (Frances) Simmons and Mrs.
Naomi Simmons, both of Elon College, and Mrs. Albert (Vera) Madden of Graham; two
brothers, Mr. Donald Samuel Gwynn and Mr. Marion Elmond Gwynn, both of Elon
College; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Arnold Scott Gwynn.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel United Church of Christ by
the Rev. Paul Stennett, pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before
the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 this evening.
