Mrs. Dora Stanley Moore


    BURLINGTON — Mrs. Dora Stanley Moore, 93, formerly of N.C. 87 North, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after several years of failing health.
    A native of Caswell County, she was the daughter of the late James Andrew "Andy" Stanley and the late Jessie Lester Stanley and was married to the late William F. "Bill" Moore, who died in 1997. She was a homemaker and an avid gardener. She was a member of Shiloh Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years and also was a former member of the Methodist Women.
    Mrs. Moore is survived by a daughter, Brenda Moore Smith and her husband, Luther, of Burlington; a son, Charles Moore and his wife, Sandy, of Angier, N.C.; four grandchildren, Amy Smith Simmons and her husband, Mark, Matthew William Smith and his wife, Michelle, Anna Moore Gardner and her husband, Jason, and Emily Renn Moore; five greatgrandchildren, Bryce Simmons, Harrison Smith, Violet Gardner, Hunter Smith and Juliana Gardner; and two brothers, Jack Stanley and George Stanley, both of Chattanooga, Tenn.
    She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Louise Stanley Chandler; and four brothers, the Rev. Lester Stanley, Leonard Stanley, Marvin Stanley and the Rev. Walter Stanley.
    The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Shiloh Methodist Church by the Rev. David Stark, the Rev. Dave Gilbert and the Rev. C. Allen Myers III. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
    The family will receive friends following the committal service in the church fellowship hall.
