Sally E. Shepherd, age 80, passed away Monday, May 21, 2012, at Wesley Long Community Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2012, at Westminster Gardens Cemetery.

Sally was born on August 17, 1931 in Fayetteville, NC to the late Walton and Lella Edge.

She married Everette "Shep" Shepherd in 1954. He predeceased her in 1985.

Sally retired after a thirty-three year career with Western Electric (Lucent). She served for many years on her home-owners association board. Sally was a very caring and generous person. She enjoyed helping her family and friends throughout her life.

She is survived by her children, David Shepherd (Diane), Kitty Sapp (Tim) and Wendy Hampton (Scott); grandchildren, Scottie Jeffries (Sherrie), Nichol Neal (Larry), Meredith Sapp, Monica Sapp and Holly Hampton; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Evan and Allie Jeffries, Kayleigh and Hunter Neal, Tyler Sapp, Gauge and Cruz Humphrey; niece Denise Naico and her children, Conrad, Taylor and Jordan and special caregiver Mardee Melvin.

Sally is also predeceased by her siblings; Margaret Edge, Clarence Edge, Walton "Junior" Edge, Patsy Shepherd and Eloise Adams.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel.
