Obituary Online notes for James M. HORNBUCKLE
Son of Harden Hornbuckle & Sarah McAdoo.
James was serving in the Montana Territorial Legislature at the time of his death.
His father, Harden Hornbuckle, and three of his uncles, Richard, Alfred, and Solomon Hornbuckle, all served in the War of 1812 in the Kentucky Mounted Dragoons, in Capt Dimmit's Company of Col. Pouge's Regiment under General Harrison. They fought the British at the battle of Thames River in Ontario in October of 1813. It was a resounding defeat of the British and helped to send Harrison to the Presidency.
