WINSTON-SALEM Ola Vernon Throckmorton May 24, 1932 - Feb. 21, 2013 Mrs. Ola Vernon Throckmorton, 80, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, February 21, 2013 at WFU Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Throckmorton was born May 24, 1932 in Stokes County to Dewey and Alice Hooker Vernon. She was a born again Christian of the Baptist faith and attended Baux Mtn. Baptist Church in Germanton. She was a homemaker and raised 9 children. A few of her enjoyments were her family, fishing, puzzles and gospel music, Her loving spirit and kind heart will be missed. A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Burroughs Chapel with Bro. Wayne Marion, Bro. David Keaton and Bro. Jack Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Oak Baptist Church Cemetery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul David Throckmorton; two brothers, Ralph and Rayford Vernon and two sisters, Virginia Shelton and Mary "Poochie" Jackson. She is survived by nine children, Deborah Shaver, Charles "Buck" Hedrick and wife Carolyn, Donna Swain and husband Terry, Ronnie Hedrick and wife Linda, Cindy Thomas, Angel "Angie" Smith and husband Dale, Annette Goins and husband Tim, Robert Phillips, Paul Phillips and wife Tina; 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Faye McQuiston and Judy Westmoreland; four brothers, Roger, Larry, Donnie and Danny Ray Vernon. Her Extended family includes a special step son, Randy Throckmorton. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at Heath Haven, 4752 NC 8 Hwy S, Walnut Cove, NC 27052.
