Obituary Online notes for Flora Eunita ANDREW
Thomas Franklin Andrew (1841–1898) and Leanna Empere Hinshaw (1851–1914) welcomed their baby daughter, Flora Eunita Andrew into their home in Pittsboro, Chatham County, North Carolina on Saturday, May 1st, 1869.
Flora was 20 years old when she married 24 year old Jonathan William Hadley in 1888. At that time they moved to Newlin Township, Alamance County, North Carolina and remained there their lifetime. Only God could know that they would spend only 11 short years together.
According to the 1900 Census, Flora was 31 years old, had been married 11 years, the wife of the head of the house and the mother of 7 Children.
The 1910 Census stated that Flora was 41 years old, the HEAD of the house and was the widowed mother of 10 children ages 20, 18, 16, 14, 13, 11, 10, 7, 5 and Ruth was 3. (She had been left to care for a houseful of children when Jonathan William passed away at 42 years old.)
In 1930, the Census relayed that Flora Eunita Hadley was mother to the head of house...she was 61 years old and was living with her oldest son William Franklin (1897-1944) and his wife Myrtis Braxton Hadley (1905-1985) and 3 of their children
Flora had been in declining health since 1936 and on Monday, November 20th, 1939 she went to meet her Lord. She had lived 70 years, 6 months and 17 days. Her Physician, Dr. J.B. Earle of Siler City N.C. stated that she had died from carcinoma and anemia. She passed away in Snow Camp, Alamance County, North Carolina and was laid to rest at South Fork Friends Church, Chatham County, North Carolina.
The Hadley Family Reunions were held at the home place where Myrtis Braxton Hadley was living and I (Marlene) remember them well...especially the strawberry cakes.
