Peggy Thomas Newnam, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 12, 2024 at the Hospice Home. She was born in Guilford County on February 16, 1932 to the late Charlie Winfred and Lena Wyrick Thomas and was the wife of the late Jack A. Newnam.
Peggy was a longtime member of Gibsonville Evangelical Methodist Church where she served as choir leader and song leader. Throughout her career she was employed with Liberty Hosiery, Stadler Hams, P. Lorillard and most recently Harbor Inn Seafood as a cashier. She never met a stranger and was always there to lend a helping hand when needed. She was a loving mother, grandmtoher and great grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Isaiah 26:3 “Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
Survivors include her daughters, Penny Yarbro (Harlan) of Burlington, Sandy Williams (Darrell) of Sanford; grandchildren, Tyson Williams (Regina), Shane Williams (Vicky) and Chelsea Williams Marks (Zach); sisters, Helen Patterson and Brenda Clayton; great grandchildren, Brady and Nina Williams; sister-in-law who was like a sister, Bea Thomas and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; a brother, Larry Thomas; sisters, Jean Hart, Jeanette Farrior and brother-in-law, Kin Patterson.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Paul Speagle with the burial to follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from12:30-1:45PMprior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
