Obituary Online notes for Margaret McKINNEY
Mrs. Margaret McKinney Thompson went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Homestead Hills Nursing Facility in Winston-Salem. Margaret was born April 14, 1926 in Stokes County, NC to the late Alma C. and Thomas E. McKinney. She was a graduate of High Point Central High School, Gardner Webb University and Woman’s College (UNCG). Mrs. Thompson was married to the love of her life for 46 years, the late Benjamin Thomas Thompson, Jr. She was an executive secretary for Sears, Roebuck & Company in Winston-Salem for over 30 years; a career that she loved and where she made many lifelong friends. After Margaret retired in 1990, she was an active member of the Sears Retiree Club and served as President for several years. She loved the Lord and was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her infant sister, Alma Jean and a brother, Folger. Surviving are her sister, Billie Chapman (Boyd) of High Point and nephews, Mark Chapman (Deborah) of Cary, NC and Tom Chapman (Tara) of Evergreen, CO. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Stewart Roten officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday just prior to the service.
