MISS GLADYS COBB DIED SUNDAY AFTER A LONG ILLNESS
Miss Gladys Cobb, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Cobb, died at the home of her parents on Cobb Street, Sunday morning at one o-clock. The immediate cause of her death was pneumonia, following influenza, which was contracted about one week ago. She had been in feeble health for a long time. The deceased was a most estimable young lady, age 26, and was loved and admired by a large circle of friends. She was educated in the city schools, later taking a business course and until her health gave way did stenographic work, and was a most successful business lady. She was a devoted christian, having been a member of the First Christian Church of this city for a long time and was a most ardent and loyal worker for the Master. She was a young woman of bright and sunny disposition, at all times greeting her friends with a smile. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Cobb, three brothers, Guy W., W.D. Jr., and James Carr, and one sister, Miss Elizabeth, two uncles, Messrs. James and Harry L. Williams, two aunts, Mesdames Walter Neeley and Matt H. Martin. All, save one uncle, were with her when the end came.
She was perfectly conscious to the last minute and expressed a perfect willingness to go, her only regret was leaving her loved ones. The taking of a young woman, only in the bloom of life, seems hard, but God knew best and has taken Miss Gladys home where she will never again suffer pain nor sorrow. The funeral was conducted at the family residence this afternoon by Elder Gilbert Jones, minister of the Christian Church, after which the remains were laid to rest in the City cemetery. Many friends were present to pay their last respects to the memory of the splendid young lady. A large number of floral offerings covered the grave.
The Tribune office was closed today on account of the death of Miss Cobb, she being a niece of the editor, Harry L. Williams.
