Catherine (Cathy) Cross Chappell
April 13, 1949 ~ February 6, 2024 (age 74)
Catherine (Cathy) Cross Chappell, 74, of Burlington, North Carolina, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Jerry Chappell and the daughter of the late George W. Cross and the late Johnnie Madden Cross. Cathy was a member of St. Mark’s Community Church. After leaving the Burlington City School System to raise her two sons, she returned and later retired from the Alamance-Burlington School System.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Josh Chappell and his wife Kelly and Clint Chappell and his wife Alex; grandchildren, Whitt, Ella, Mary Wade, Lauren, Amelia and Wes; and brother-in-law Virgil Butler.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Ann Cross Butler.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington on Thursday, February 8, 2024.
The service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 noon in the Old Sanctuary of St. Mark’s Community Church on Friday, February 9, 2024.
The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Happier Days Private Duty Services, LLC. Especially Sarah Lamberth, Anna Lamberth, and the entire staff.
