GIBSONVILLE - Paul M. Wagoner, 89, of Gibsonville passed away at the Brian Center, Eden, NC on Sunday, February 13, 2022.A native of Gibsonville, NC, he was the husband of the late Rebecca “Becky” Freeman Wagoner for 54 years and the son of J. I. Wagoner and Eunice HomewoodWagoner, both deceased.
Mr. Wagoner grew up in Gibsonville in a farming family. From that farming background, his brother and family became known forWagoner’s Christmas Trees. Paul was a graduate of N. C. State University with a degree inAgricultural Engineering. He was licensed in many fields, including his Professional Engineering License, his Electrical License, and his General Contractor License.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army with the rank of Captain in the Army Corps of Engineers and served during the Korean Conflict. Paul retired from Duke Power Company with over 20 years of service. He was a lifelongmember of Friedens Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Melinda Wagoner and husband Dexter Curry of Clayton, NC; son, Mark M. Wagoner and wife Danielle of Gibsonville; five grandchildren, Ally Wagoner, David Shoaf, Jason Shoaf, Lawson Cope, and Lyndon Cope; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret EllenMorgan and twin brothers, John and FredWagoner.
The funeral service will be conducted at Friedens Lutheran Church on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. William Zima.
