Barbara A. Snyder went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 12:05 a.m. surrounded by her loving family!
A native of Person County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Rev. C. L. Abernethy and the late Louise Williams Abernethy. A graduate of Mars Hill College and Furman University, she was a second grade teacher in the Burlington City and Forsyth County Schools. There she met her husband of 35 years, the late Ralph L. Snyder. She taught PreK in Sunday School at Fellowship Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie S. Clapp (Mike D.); son, Michael C. Snyder; three grandsons, Matt Clapp, Ben Clapp, and Zach Clapp; and family friend and unofficial daughter, Ester Benbasset. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Mark T. Snyder and brother, Melvin Lee Abernethy.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation at the home, but a graveside service on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington from 12:15 until 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church Sunday School , AuthoraCare Hospice, and Furman University. 261, Mrs Barbara Abernethy Snyder
