age 51 of Owanka, South Dakota, died February 8, 2002, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Roger Fred Barber was born May 6, 1950 in New Underwood, South Dakota, the son of Edgar and Amy (Erickson) Barber.

He grew up on the ranch where he presently lives and received his education at Harmony Rural School. After fifth grade he attended school in Wall, graduating from Wall High School in 1968.

He attended Sioux Falls College for one year and then attended Western Iowa Technical School in Sioux City, Iowa.

Roger was united in marriage to Linda L. Anderson on September 5, 1970 in Wall, South Dakota.

They made their home on his parents ranch where he ranched with his father and later with his brother Paul. Later Roger and Linda purchased the ranch which they continued to operate until his death.

Roger was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wall, where he had served on various committees and also taught church school. He served on the Wall School Board, and was a member of Farm Bureau, American Quarter Horse Association, American Ag Movement, Northern Agri-Fuels, the South Dakota Charolais Association, the Wall Golf Course, and the Lake Waggoner Golf Course.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Linda Barber of Owanka; three daughters, Christi Michael and her husband George, and their children, Kyle, Dustin, Cyrissa, and Emma of Owanka; Trisha Eisenbraun and her husband Jim of Creighton, and Niki Barber of Spearfish; his mother, Amy Barber of Rapid City; one brother, Paul Barber and his wife Pat of Rapid City; two sisters, Susan Reed and her husband Gary of Rapid City, and Beverly Outtrim and her husband Gary of Leola, South Dakota; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his father Edgar.

Funeral services for Roger F. Barber, age 51, of Owanka, South Dakota, were held 2:00 p.m., February 12, 2002 at the United Methodist Church in Wall, with Pastor Jim Cissell and officiating.

Visitation was held 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 11, 2002 at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Wall.

Interment was held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, preceding the funeral services, at the Lakeside Cemetery in Owanka.

A memorial is established.
