BURLINGTON – Carlene Boone Smith, 85, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Hospice Home. She was born on June 22, 1933 in Caswell County to the late Carl Anderson Boone and Eula Mae Underwood Boone and was the wife to the late Fred Alvis Smith who died in 1988, Carlene retired from Carolina Biological after 25 years of service. She was a member of Camp Springs United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was involved with the Ladies Circle.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl and Gary Mansfield, Kelly and Freddie Saunders; grandchildren, Caitlin Turner and husband, Ethan and Carson Saunders; sisters, Virginia Herbin and husband, Alvin, Angilea Satterfield and husband, Henry; and her sisters-in-law, Brenda Boone and Violet Boone. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Howard Boone and Leo Boone; and a sister, Doris Boone Wrenn and her husband, David.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Camp Springs United Methodist Church by Rev. Laura Dunlap . , with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the residence.
