Howard B. Harms, 48 Dodge City Band director died of a heart attack at his home.

He was born April 27, 1918 in Hillsboro.

He married Lily Wilkinson on Sept. 14,1940 at Holton.

He taught music at Seneca and Wamego before coming to Doge City in 1949 as band director for the entire Dodge City school system. He also served as city band director for many years.
He was a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by widow, Lily, duaghters; Janet Headrick of Lyons and Candice of the home; sons, Craig of Wichita, Mark and Keith both of the home; brother, Leon of Albuquerque, N.Mex; sissters, Hilda Dills of Omaha, Neb and Esther Kliewer of Lawrence; three grandchildren.
