Dorothy J. Spahr, age 79, died June 8, 2000.

Mrs. Spahr worked as a head cashier for the Safeway & Co-Op grocery stores with 32 years service, retiring from Co-op in 1975. She was born in Bevier, Mo., and lived most of her life in the Akron and Tallmadge areas. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge where she served as past President of the Women's Fellowship and served on many boards. She was a member of the Tallmadge B.P.W., The Congregators, was past president of the Tallmadge Garden Forum, past president of the Garden Gate Garden Club, Home & Garden, and the Billow Chapter of O.E.S.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl L. and sister, Mary Louise McGee, and is survived by son, of North Carolina; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Marvin Painter; brother-in-law, Howard McGee, all of Missouri; grandchildren, grandson (granddaughter-in-law) of Georgia, grandson of Florida; two great-grandchildren; extended family; and several nieces and nephews.

Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2000, at the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge, with Rev. Dr. John Schluep officiating. Friends will be received immediately following the service. In lieu of other remembrances, donations may be given to the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge Air Condition Fund, 85 Heritage Dr., Tallmadge, Ohio 44278.
