June 1, 1917 - January 27, 2011

A Memorial Service lead by Rev. James Hickey held at 2 PM on Sunday, January 30 at East Commerce Baptist Church.

Mildred Elaine Williams Davis was born on June 1, 1917 in Marshall County Tennessee and died on January 27, 2011 in Maryville, Tennessee at the age of 93.

The first child of Ernest Thompson Williams and Clemmie Whitsell Williams her birth was followed by that of three younger sisters: Helen Williams (Mrs. Bill) Bowden, Sarah Williams (Mrs. Paul) Blackburn and Ernestine Williams (Mrs. Will Norris) Hunter.

She graduated from Marshall County High School in 1935 and a year later married her high school sweetheart Clifford (Dick) Davis after his return from UT, Knoxville. They had one son, Michael E. Davis, in February, 1942, and moved to Detroit when Michael was 6 months old.

After about a year, they returned permanently to Lewisburg to escape the stresses of big city life at that time.

Mrs. Davis was a housewife for most of her life with the exception of the years she and Dick ran the Dari D'Lite and Dick's Restaurant.

She was an avid bridge player and with the help of her husband maintained a beautiful yard and flowers. She was a member of the DAR and a faithful member of First Baptist Church before becoming a charter and lifelong member of East Commerce Baptist Church.

Due to illness, she moved in her late 80s to Maryville, Tennessee to be near her son and daughter-in-law Michael and Mitzi and her four grandchildren and their families: Melanie and Chad Dykes of Maryville, Holly of Maryville, Matthew and Tara Davis of Louisville KY, Abby Davis of Boston, MA and great grandchildren Kelsey, Gracie and Lillie Dykes and Shelby Davis. In addition she is survived by her sister Helen Bowden, nieces Brenda Benson, Patti Moss, Patsy Sue Daughrity, Paula Niblett, nephews Mack Bowden, Don Bowden, Ernie Blackburn, Ronald (Phil) Blackburn, and Phil Davis.

Mrs. Davis was a beautiful, unique woman and everyone who knew her has a story to tell. She will be buried at Lone Oak Cemetery alongside her husband, parents and extended family.
