Obituary Online notes for Lyle Augustine TAYLOR
Born to Grove and Estella (Augustine) Taylor.
Served in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre and was a POW from March 1944 until the time of liberation in May 1945. He received several medals including the Purple Heart.
He purchased the Ruby Creek Store and built the Ruby Creek Tavern in 1952. He retired from the Mason County Road Commission in 1983 after 22 years of service. He served on the Logan Township Board for many years as a clerk and trustee
He was a life member of the Custer Gold Bar VFW Post 5096, DAV and the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid hunter, bowler, and champion horseshoe player. He won the Fountain Horseshoe Tournament the week prior to his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Claude Taylor, his sisters Ruth Mary Ives and Orpha Kirwin.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years Ella Mae (Mast); his children Karen Taylor of Oklahoma City, OK, Elliott (Deanna) Taylor of Muskegon, MI; Ginny (Roger) Beadle of Branch, MI and Janet (John) Husted of Fountain, MI; his grandsons Roger and Marc Taylor and Roger Lyle Beadle; five great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; his sisters Marjorie Cole of Hersey, Florence Fuller of Branch, Mildred Bayle of Scottville, Genevieve (Clarence) Hendrixon of Rothbury, Bessie Jane Stolcenberg of Ludington and Edna (Jack) Payne of Branch; his brothers Robert (Betty) Taylor of Branch and Marvin (Pat) Taylor of Scottville; his sister-in-law Ruth Taylor, many of his wife's brothers and sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. 470, SGT Lyle Augustine Taylor
