From the SOUTH BEND (IN) TRIBUNE, January 1, 2014:

SOUTH BEND - Frances M. Reichanadter Whitesel, 94, of South Bend, died Monday, December 30, 2013 in Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Whitesel was born July 7, 1919 in St. Joseph County to the late Dora (Ernsberger) and Adam Reichanadter and was a lifetime area resident.

On October 28, 1939 in South Bend she married George E. Whitesel who preceded her in death January 15, 1985. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Matthys; and her siblings, Donald Overbay and Herbert Reichanadter.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Paluzzi (Dan Laurencig) of Benton Harbor, MI; her sons, Ronald G. Whitesel (Alice) and James L. Whitesel (Ann) both of South Bend; seven grandchildren, Pamela Lewis , Kimberlyn Thompson (John), Kristen Matthys, David Whitesel, Dean Whitesel (Michelle), James Whitesel (Mindy), and Troy Whitesel (Susan); 15 great-grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, Adam, Lacey, David, Brandon, Allison, Madison, Marissa, Jack, Stephanie, Chris, Jimmy, Cole, and Jake; and 14 great-great-grandchildren, Azelin, Brianne, Rylynn, Lily, Sydney, Brayden, Grayson, Cameron, Kayla, Gavin, Aubree, James, Mackenzie, and Jaxson. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Parker of Florida and many loving nieces and nephews.

Frances was a member of First Brethren Church of Ardmore for over 69 years, belonged to the Women's Circle of Friends and was a member of the New Carlisle Chapter #320 Order of Eastern Star. She was involved in many activities including ceramics and crocheting, and she loved to play games and cards with her friends and family. She was an avid reader and an excellent cook and when her children were young was active with the school PTAs and Boy Scouts of America.
