Obituary Online notes for Delbert HURDLE
Delbert L. Hurdle, 68, died Tuesday at his home.
Mr. Hurdle was born in Elgin, Ill., and worked for Apex Foundry, Anderson, before retiring in 1988. Earlier, he worked at Owens-Illinois Glass Co. and was a glass blower and moulder.
Mr. Hurdle was a 16-year veteran of the Navy and was a survivor of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, where he was on board the USS Nashville. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge 33 and was a member of American Legion Post 19 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 651.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Thomas Wise, Hartford City; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Edward and Jean Hurdle, and Fred Hurdle, all of Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel. Burial will be in the veterans section of Beech Grove Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Calling will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary 470, Delbert L Hurdle
