Martha was a 1936 graduate of Huntington Township High School. She was a member of the New Life Fellowship Church in Huntington. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors. She was born in Wabash County, a daughter of Asa and Mabel (Hunt) Whitesell. She was united in marriage to Donald D. Thorn on June 6, 1937 in Huntington. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1996. Survivors include two sons: Larry D. Thorn of Granbury, TX, Allen A. Thorn of Huntington, three daughters: Janet Manuel of Everman, TX, Sue Mietzner of Benbrook, TX, Pamela Smith of Huntington, three brothers: Walter Whitesell, Willard "Bud" Whitesell and Paul David Whitesell all of Huntington, a sister: Joanna "Rene" Miller of North Manchester, 17 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
