Obituary Online notes for Walter WHITESELL
Walter Whitesell, 77, of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at 9:30 a.m. at his home.
Mr. Whitesell was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a sergeant during the Korean War. He was retired from H.K. Porter, later known as Friction Material, where he had worked for 39 years. He was a member of Moose Lodge 837, American Legion Post 7 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689.
He was born Dec. 13, 1931, in Huntington to Asa and Mable Hunt Whitesell. He married Marilynn J. Biddle on Oct. 6, 1956, in Huntington. His wife preceded him in death on July 19, 1992.
Survivors include three sons, Max (Diana) Biddle, of Palmetto, FL; Roger (Marilyn) Whitesell, of Huntington; and Pat (Daisy) Whitesell, of Zulu; two daughters, Diana (Jim) Laurain, of Port Charlotte, FL, and Odesta "Dusty" (Robert) Henderickson, of Punta Gorda, FL; two brothers, Willard (Evelyn) Whitesell and Paul David (Edith) Whitesell, both of Huntington; a sister, Renee Miller, of North Manchester; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Calling is Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A service will be held at the mortuary on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Patrick Haskins officiating. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
