Phyllis Jean Oswalt, 86, of Huntington, passed away at 12:23 am Monday, July 5, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN.

Phyllis was born on June 29, 1935 in Ligon, KY, the daughter of Crit Newsome and Dixie (Johnson) Newsome. She moved to Indiana at the age of 16. Phyllis married Larry T. Oswalt on December 3, 1954 in Andrews, IN. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2006. They were happily married for 52 years. She retired from Memcor in 1996 as a Group Leader after 45 years of service. Phyllis was a member of the New Hope Ministries in Roanoke and she loved to shop for bargains, baseball, and spending time with her family and her Dog, Benji.

Survivors include her Two Daughters, Joyce A. (Jim) Webb of Whitley County, IN, and Cindy (Larry) Williams of Huntington, IN; Son, Scott Oswalt of Huntington, IN; Two Brothers, Taylor Newsome of Huntington, IN, and Ted Newsome of Andrews, IN; Two Sisters, Sue Burke of Ashland, KY, and Elzada Henson of Huntington, IN; Five Grandchildren, Chad Williams, Jason Williams, Ian Webb, Ashlie Buzzard and Adam Oswalt; and Ten Great Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Father, Crit Newsome, Mother, Dixie Newsome, Husband, Larry T. Oswalt, Brother, Frank Newsome, Brother, Bob Newsome, Sister, Mary Prater, and Sister, Diane Newsome.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Jim Graham officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington.

Phyllis will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Preferred memorials may be made in memory of Phyllis to the Riley Hospital for Children, St. Jude Children's Hospital, or the American Cancer Society, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN, 46750.
