Obituary Online notes for Dorothy Jane PHILABAUM
Dorothy Jane Cole, 94, Allons, Tennessee, formerly of Miami County, passed away at 5:18 a.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at the Overton County Nursing Home, Livingston, Tennessee.
On February 3, 1913, Dorothy was born in Miami County to Perry Otis and Bertha A. (Overly) Philabaum. On August 22, 1931, she married Louis Raymond Cole, who preceded her in death in May of 1983.
The 1931 graduate of Chili High School farmed with her husband, as well as worked for Lloyd Miller of Roann.
Dorothy was a member of the Chili United Methodist Church, the Women's Christian Temperance Union, Home Ec Clubs, and enjoyed her family and reading.
In June of 2000, she moved to Tennessee with her daughter.
She is survived by her son, Gary L. Cole and wife Judy, Denver; daughter, Carolyn A. Oldfather, Allons; five grandchildren, Ryan D. Oldfather and wife Candy, Westfield, Kirk L. Oldfather, Avon, Lori Cole, Leslie Cole, and Jody Worden and husband Kenneth, each of Denver; two step-grandchildren, Carrie Fuller and husband Derwood ‘Beve,' Denver, and Greg Livengood and wife Ann Marie, Akron; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Aside from her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Howard Philabaum; and sister, Mildred Landis.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Home, Roan, with Connie Payne officiating.
Burial will be at the Chili Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
