Obituary Online notes for Catherine Ann GARRISON
Findagrave contributor KMiller suggested that Catherine is the daughter of Daniel Garrison and Catherine Metherd. As noted on Daniel's Findagrave page, there is The Fox Genealogy which only gives 4 sons. That genealogy, however, appears to have been done by collecting information from people and not doing research. Here is the census analysis for Daniel's family.
1830 census, Daniel Garrison, Washington, Montgomery, Ohio
2 males under 5, George & Jonathan
2 males 15-19, ???
1 male, 20-29, Daniel
1 female, 5-9, Catherine
1 female, 20-29, Catherine Metherd
1840 census, Daniel Garrison, Montgomery, Ohio
1 male under 5, Jacob
1 male 5-9, Daniel Jr
4 males 10-14, George & Jonathan & ??? (not the same males as in 1830)
1 male 30-39, Daniel
1 female, 15-19, Catherine
1 female, 30-39, Catherine Metherd
There's room for one daughter. Her tombstone has a birth date of 3 Jul 1823 for Catherine. The census records are consistent with a daughter born then, age 7 in 1830 and age 17 in 1840. The marriage record for Daniel Garrison & Catherine Metherd exists and they were married 22 Nov 1825 in Montgomery Co, OH. It is quite possible they had a child before they were married.
The marriage of Tobias Whitesell on 22 Mar 1843 in Montgomery Co, OH, is to a Catherine Pettigrew (Petticrew?). It appears that Catherine had a first marriage.
Catherine and Tobias' two oldest children are Catherine & Daniel - same as her parents. The death records of children Catherine Davis and Daniel Whitesel give her maiden name as Garrison.
Finally, there are a number of DNA matches between her descendants and descendants of her brothers. 470, Catherine Ann Garrison Whitesell
